TESTIMONIALS

The Rowland & Associates Approach

With all our clients we adopt a client-centric, holistic approach whilst responding to the professional development needs identified by the individual or the organisation. We begin 1:1 Executive Coaching assignments by conducting a complimentary chemistry session to assess the ‘fit’ between coach and client. For us, it is essential that clients work with a coach with whom they feel a strong fit. We may offer clients a chemistry session with more than one coach from the team to ensure we achieve this. It is also important to us that the chemistry session is a valuable investment of a client’s time whether it becomes the start of a coaching programme or is a stand-alone session.

At the end of the chemistry session the coach will outline options for the coaching programme and make recommendations of frequency and format of sessions based on what’s been explored during the chemistry session. Typically clients choose to commence an initial 6-month coaching programme immediately following the chemistry session.

To maintain complete freedom and flexibility for each client, our policy is to invoice on a session by session basis (unless requested to do differently by an organisation). We believe this respects the individual needs of each client and allows us to tailor each coaching programme to meet the unique development objectives and preferences for engagement and support.

Our coaching programmes can include 360 feedback, gathered via phone interviews, email questionnaires, face to face meetings or a variety of psychometric profiling tools. These may be initiated by an individual client or requested by an organisation; either way feedback is gathered in discussion with and with agreement from the client.

During each session we review actions taken and progress made against the client’s coaching outcomes. At the end of the 6-month initial programme we have an explicit conversation or more formal review process, eg involving a 3-way conversation with the client’s line manager, to assess progress made against objectives. We may complete the coaching at this stage or, more typically, explore what further coaching would be beneficial.

One session of coaching can make a difference, and an initial 6-month programme can make a significant impact. Typically clients work with a coach for a 12-month period, where true and sustained growth can be achieved. A number of clients value the benefit of having a ‘coach for life’, where the relationship provides a consistent, highly personalised yet objective support regardless of changes to job role, organisation or personal circumstance.
